eBay Motors tapped into the media obsession around what Formula 1 drivers drive off the track to celebrate McLaren’s return to the US by building the ultimate American trophy car for Lando Norris. In partnership with the McLaren Formula 1 Team, we outfitted the car with a dozen parts and accessories sourced straight from eBay, then had Lando drive it to the track in Austin during race weekend, when off track rides are heavily covered. Fans helped decide the final details, voting on and installing live finishing touches at the eBay fan experience at Circuit of the Americas. The car later traveled to Las Vegas, where it was auctioned for charity during the Grand Prix, raising over $70,000.
